Automatically Testing Java GUI Applications

Functional GUI testing is a vital part of the development and QA process of today’s complex GUI applications. Manually testing the GUI of an application is error-prone, unreliable, unpredictable and slow. Automating this process on the other hand, allows to reliably deliver results quickly, enabling developers to find and fix regressions in nearly no time. This does not only save time but also money.
This talk will highlight the requirements, challenges and solutions to automating the GUI testing of Java Swing/AWT and Java SWT/Eclipse RCP applications based on real-world examples and experience. The talk will be accompanied by practical, live demonstrations.
Reginald Stadlbauer
Reginald Stadlbauer ist Mitbegründer und CEO der froglogic GmbH. Geboren im österreichischen Graz, schloß er sich während des Studiums dem KDE-Projekt an und schrieb die Office-Applikationen KPresenter und KWord. 1999 nahm er die Arbeit bei Trolltech ASA auf, Hersteller des Qt GUI Toolkit. In seinen vier Jahren bei Trolltech war Reginald Teil des Entwicklungsteams für Qt, Qt Designer und QSA. 2003 war Reginald an der Gründung von froglogic beteiligt – froglogic ist spezialisiert auf das automatisierte Testen von Nutzeroberflächen und hat entsprechende Services sowie das Test-Tool Squish im Angebot.
